IDtag.info Overview
IDtag.info is a service for registering any or all of your personal possessions.
A unique website is allocated for each possession registered. Your IDtag for each item will be the last half of the short url (web address).
So, for example, IDtag.info/XPY3D may be the free tag issued
for your dog, or if you purchased a special IDtag, it could be IDtag.info/RUFUS (or whatever his name is) both with his own unique
website displaying his photo and contact details.
There is no cost for creating the standard IDtags, or posting
a picture related to each IDtag. There are some value-added services
including vanity IDs, reward notification, extra-pictures and lost-posters
for a small fee. Please see our price table for more information.
Specific Uses for IDtags.info
Lost
Items
The IDtags are visible URLs (web
addresses).
This means that even people who haven't heard of idtag.info will immediately
see that its a URL, and access the site to find information on the item.
You can also include precise instructions by writing "If lost contact me at www.idtag.info/myidtag" on your item.
We are actively contacting lost-and-found centers to inform them of our services. We believe that this system will become the number one lost-and-found service around the world.
By owning
a unique web page of the item, a person can link it to their myspace page or any other for a more personal touch. This frequently enhances
the chances of its return to its true owner.
Stolen Items
Of course we cannot guarantee the return of lost or stolen
items, but it does enhance the chances of being found and it could possibly
be a deterrent to thieves in the first place. It could also provide
valuable proof to law-enforcement agencies as to the thieves of labeled
possessions.
Sold Items
The URL is transferable to valid new owners, giving them the same
benefits as the previous owners, without the necessity of re-labeling
the item with their information.
